Jay Reguero is 17 and focuses mostly on video games. He’s been accepted to the University of Michigan but has little enthusiasm for college. Born in the Philippines but no longer close to his remote extended family, he is shocked by news of his cousin Jun’s violent death. Determined to know more but thwarted by family secrets, Jay flies to Manilla to discover the truth but learns more about family bonds, customs, resentments, and his place in the world as a Filipino immigrant to the U.S.
