From Sunday 1/26/25 until Sunday 2/2/25, UUFSD will partner with St. James Catholic Church in Solana Beach to provide food and shelter to people experiencing homelessness through the Interfaith Rotational Overnight Shelter Network. That week St. James provides the shelter and we provide the volunteers to help people feel at home.
It’s time to sign up HERE to prepare and bring delicious dishes for dinner, to spend a night, or hang out on Saturday 2/1/25 for a two-hour shift, so the guests can stay in the shelter all day. The other days they have to leave by 7 am because St. James uses the facility during the week. Volunteers who spend the night stay from 7pm until 7am and have a cot provided, and bedding, if desired. The hall is spacious so there’s some privacy. Mary Anne and Paul Trause, the UUFSD coordinators, are always available for back-up.
This program serves those who are situationally homeless. Everyone has case managers and the opportunity to be sheltered for 12 weeks in different churches. It’s a wonderful example of how a county-wide village comes together to help individuals find jobs and housing while in the program. Providing meals is material, providing hospitality is spiritual. UUFSD is wonderful at providing hospitality. Join us in making a real difference in these individuals’ lives! Questions? Call Mary Anne at (360) 870-3740.
