GENEROSITY SUNDAY FOR GENTE UNIDA – SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 22, 2020
Under the “Remain in Mexico” program the Department of Homeland Security has knowingly sent tens of thousands of vulnerable asylum seekers and their children, across the border with life and death consequences. Human Rights Watch has repeatedly urged the US government to immediately end the program, stop returning asylum seekers to Mexico, and instead ensure them access to humanitarian support, safety, and due process in immigration court proceedings. The asylum seekers and their children are living in shelters without access to educational programs. GENTE UNIDA provides virtual educational, dance, music and therapy art classes to the children in the shelters. As well as donations and visits. Currently 545 children are separated from their parents.
Our November Generosity Sunday collection for Gente Unida will provide funds to continue these virtual educational and art classes. Members and friends can contribute on line at uufsd.org, give button or send a check to UUFSD, P.O. Box 201, Solana Beach, CA 92075. Please include GS-Gente Unida in the memo line.
