This monthly discussion group meets to examine our 6 UU sources of wisdom, by hosting various topics for reflection and sharing. A different member hosts the topic each month. Sacred Text discussion is not an academic exercise but a spiritual quest.

The topic for this month is Transcendentalism. Transcendentalism has been called the mystical side of Unitarianism.

Transcendentalism was a literary and philosophical movement that emerged in the early 19th century in the United States. It was heavily influenced by European Romanticism, as well as the writings of English poets such as Wordsworth and Coleridge. The movement emphasized the importance of intuition, individuality, and the inherent goodness of both people and nature. Transcendentalists believed in the existence of an ideal spiritual state that transcended the physical and empirical world. Our hosts are Ron and Sylvia DeMuth.
