The evolution of human knowledge in the 17th century through handmade microscopes led to the discovery of the cell and later the reframing of the human body as a cellular ecosystem. Now we have cutting-edge technologies for manipulating and deploying cells for therapeutic purposes.
The author (whose works include The Gene and The Emperor of All Maladies) creates stunning stories with beautiful prose to aid our understanding of this evolution of science and what it means to be human.
