Climate Conversations

Were you inspired during last week’s Earth Day service with our fabulous speakers and deliciously fun potluck? Want to raise your voice for climate justice and sustainability with thousands of fellow San Diegans? Then head to Waterfront Park on Saturday, May 3, 11:00 am – 2:00 pm for MARCH! Unite for Climate.

The rally is organized by SanDiego 350, www.sandiego350.org. Founded in 2014, this non profit has multiple teams and campaigns, including Policy, Community, Resistance and Youth. One of their newer teams is the North County Team. They push local school boards to switch to 100% renewable energy; they partner with Surfrider Foundation’s Ocean Friendly Restaurant Program to reduce single use plastic; and they educate and provide opportunities for residents and businesses to switch to 100% renewable energy.

The “350” in the name comes from 350 parts per million (ppm), the scientifically determined safe upper limit of carbon dioxide (CO2) in our atmosphere. Our atmosphere currently holds over 417 ppm of CO2, with an increasing trend of about 2 additional ppm units per year.
