Capital Campaign and Construction Update

Administration Building: As reported last week the City of Solana Beach is still in review of our construction document package and is expected to issue a permit for construction by around the end of September but may extend into early October. Chris Kolb has been engaged as General Contractor for this project and will begin construction as soon as the permit is ready.

West Campus: Doug Paterson Architect and his consulting team have transitioned their efforts into the Construction Document phase for the Fire Truck Turnaround, the AV Kiosk/Bathroom Building, and Amphitheater improvements. We still anticipate submission to the City and The Coastal Commission for permit review by about the end of this year. The design team is planning to make another informational update to the congregation on Sunday, January 21 immediately after service. Mark your calendars.

Bridge Repair: Chris Kolb is currently sanding and staining decking needed to repair the unsafe walking surfaces on the 3 existing pedestrian bridges. Chris Kolb and his team will replace approximately half the decking boards specifically targeted at those that are broken or in poor condition. The balance of the materials will be installed over time by Buildings and Grounds volunteers. Chris’s work is due to be complete in the next 2 or 3 weeks. During that time the Amphitheater will be closed for public access and services will be held in Founders Hall.

Please be careful around construction activity and stay tuned for continuing updates. Please address questions or comment to [email protected]
