Our Social Justice Action – Helping our Neighbors – Homeless Project provides toiletries to our homeless neighbors so they might be able to maintain a degree of sanitary health. Our toiletry distributions are twice a month at the Encinitas Community Center emergency food distribution center. We distribute
traveling size, combs, hair brushes, tooth paste, tooth brushes, shampoo, conditioner, towels, deodorant, razors, soap, body lotion, handy wipes, sunscreen, lip balm, pens and notebooks and new socks.
In the past few months we have seen the population we serve almost double, from about 20-25 people to 40 people, at each distribution. We did not anticipate such an increase when we presented our budget request, and our UUFSD FY allocation for toiletries and clothing sundries will not cover our needs.
Therefore we are appealing to the generosity of the Fellowship to help us maintain the level of dignity and quality of life for our homeless brothers and sisters through this Generosity Sunday request.
