The San Diegans for Gun Violence Prevention, our Social Justice partner organization, is presenting a theater piece – a one man show called Guac. Manny Oliver is an artist and a father of 17 year old Joaquin Oliver, killed in Parkland 6 years ago. He has created a play that has toured nationally. He has taken his grief and turned it into powerful and inspirational activism, a story about his son, his life and death, and his undying love for him. Though the content sounds difficult, and it is quite powerful and emotional, the result is inspiring and up-lifting.
The Olivers will be in San Diego to perform this show as their last stop on this national tour on Friday, August 2 at 7 pm at Mandeville Auditorium UCSD, and Saturday August 3 at 2 pm at Westminster Church in Point Loma. Tickets are 20 dollars, and all students are free (though they need to get a ticket) For all questions contact Kara Chine at [email protected].
