UUFSD Choir Begins Thursday, August 29

Dear Beloved Fellowship,

I hope you will all give some thought to joining the choir. Singing in a group is a deeply satisfying experience. You blend your most personal instrument with others to make something beautiful that you couldn’t have made alone. This is a strong and nurturing endeavor. Physically, you exercise your brain and body, stimulate memory, release endorphins, reduce cortisol, and boost your immune system. Psychologically, you increase your sense of well- being and happiness. You bond with your fellow singers and become part of a new beloved community. You develop your creativity and self expression, and deepen your connection to life. Really. Plato said:

Music is a moral law. It gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination, a charm to sadness, and life to everything. It is the essence of order, and leads to all that is good, just and beautiful, of which it is the invisible, but nevertheless dazzling, passionate, and eternal form.

Our choir is welcoming to singers of all abilities. If you don’t read music and need a recording of your part, I will make one. We have a lot of fun learning music together on Thursday nights. We love singing music that brings the worship messages on Sunday mornings to life though our choral art.

If you have considered choir, now is the time to talk to me! Or you may simply show up Thursday, August 29, from 7:00 to 9:00 pm in Founders’ Hall. I will have extra music for you. All are welcome to try us out. Choir sings about twice per month, from September to June.
