Dream Builders Anticipate Start of Construction (HELP!)

The Dream Builders Committee (implementation arm of UUFSD’s Capital Campaign) expects plans, permits, construction contracts, insurance, etc. to be in place within the next month or so. With Board approval, we expect to break ground on Phase 2 of our Master Plan sometime this summer, providing improvements to our parking lot, allowing us to begin focusing on Phase 3.

It’s taken years of work with our architect, Doug Paterson, engineering consultants, the agencies requiring permits to build; and considerable fund raising from all of you. With this new work starting, we invite UUFSD members to consider joining our team. If you have some experience in construction, it will be welcome, but there are plenty of things to do that require no special construction-related knowledge.

Committee leadership has generously devoted countless volunteer hours to this work over many years; it’s high time we pitched in to spread the tasks around. Of course, other committee members have been on the job too, but there aren’t many of us. We meet on Zoom once/month. Time commitment depends on the tasks members take on. We have experienced a very busy first quarter in 2025.  There is an update on the State of the Fellowship from Rev. Ellie, and news of our Religious Education program from Heather Megill, our Director of Religious Exploration and Fellowship.    Our Social Justice Action Committee has been involved in a Climate Action pot luck, Overnight Winter Shelter, various Justice demonstrations, three Fill a Belly dinners, the Palestine-Israel Justice “Apartheid Free Congregation” movement, the Fire Emergency Relief Clothing Drive, Immigration Justice petitions and the awarding of four Generosity Sundays to partnering Justice organizations.  We also have sections of  “Music at UUFSD,”  “Happenings” and ongoing events at UUFSD by “Day-of-the-Week.”
