Visit us in the core area each week, from June 23rd to August 25th. If you do not attend services in the summer you can still contribute to this project by sending checks made out to UUFSD and putting ‘backpack project’ in the memo. Our goal is to distribute 100+ filled backpacks to children in need in our community.
Community Resource Center – Children in Transitional Housing in the Domestic Violence Program
Encinitas Union School District – Students in need in our local elementary schools
Stand Up For Kids – Homeless and at risk youth
Casas de Luz – Serving students in our sister program in Tijuana
We are collecting backpacks (new and gently used) and school supplies to fill them. Cash donations are most appreciated as it allows us to shop for the specific items needed at the lowest cost.
In order to make this project a success we still need volunteers. The time commitment can be as little as covering a shift at the table on a Sunday. This is an excellent way for newcomers or families with children to get involved. Please contact Liz Young at [email protected] if you can help out with this summer project.
