Our Mission and Vision
Rather than a simple mission, we choose to align all we do in accordance with the following vision, covenant and principles for our fellowship and the world:
UUFSD Vision Statement
Inspired by our Unitarian Universalist principles, we are a vibrant, intentionally diverse congregation that models and promotes both locally and globally: love, spiritual growth, service, right relations and sustainable living.
UUFSD Congregational Covenant
May love be the spirit of this congregation;
May the quest for truth be its sacrament;
And service be its prayer;
To dwell together in peace,
To seek knowledge in freedom,
And to help one another in fellowship.
This is our covenant.
The Principles of the Unitarian Universalist Association
We, the member congregations of the Unitarian Universalist Association, covenant to affirm and promote the following eight principles:
- The inherent worth and dignity of every person.
- Justice, equity and compassion in human relations.
- Acceptance of one another and encouragement to spiritual growth in our congregations.
- A free and responsible search for truth and meaning.
- The right of conscience and the use of the democratic process within our congregations and in society at large.
- The goal of world community with peace, liberty, and justice for all.
- Respect for the interdependent web of all existence of which we are a part.
- Journeying toward spiritual wholeness by working to build a diverse multicultural Beloved Community by our actions that accountably dismantle racism and other oppressions in ourselves and our institutions.
Covenant of Right Relations
As we walk this spiritual path together, we are mindful of our common need to love and be loved, to support and be supported, to listen and be heard, and to forgive and be forgiven. Therefore, we strive to build a religious community dedicated to communicating directly, respectfully, patiently and lovingly. We strive to be kind to each other and to establish a place of trust and safety. We welcome and respect differences of opinion. When conflict arises we seek clarity and listen more than we speak. Mindful of our own assumptions, we work to achieve reconciliation when we disagree. When the inevitable challenges come in our interactions we will stay in community and reaffirm the values that brought us together.
UUFSD Procedure for Addressing and Resolving Conflicts and Concerns
It is important for any healthy community to have a process for reconciling conflict and expressing concerns. The form below was crafted after reviewing the research and implementation of conflict resolution processes at other UU congregations. The UUFSD Committee on Ministry promises to keep your submission private, unless otherwise agreed upon by you. In keeping with right relations, we ask that you do not submit anonymously.

Our Purpose From our UUFSD By-Laws
The purposes of the Fellowship are: to form a liberal religious association; to provide a place for religious gatherings and to maintain facilities for religious exploration by our youth; and to advocate and practice a religion of reason, community, and good will, enriched by the world’s great traditions of the past but captive to none. . . .
UUFSD is a safe haven and community of inspiration creatively meeting the spiritual, social, educational and emotional needs of members and their families in ways consistent with our UU principles. Through this mutual support, we are empowered to transform the world, one person at a time.
