Dear Fellow Members of UUFSD,
Once again, please mark your calendars for our Congregational Meeting to be held on June 26th, following services and will promptly begin at 11: 30 am. The meeting will be held in our amphitheater, and we will be voting on our annual budget and on the slate for the Board of Directors, as well as approval of grant funding awards. Your vote is important and we must have at least 35 members for a quorum. Please remember that members must be physically present to vote.
To allow you to have ample time to review the budget that the Board of Directors will present to you for your approval on June 26, 2022, we are providing links to the detailed and summary versions of the budget for Fiscal Year 2022-2023. They will also be posted on our website for your convenience.
A promising candidate has been interviewed and the committee will be making a recommendation to the Board, but it is too soon to know anything else right now. Unlike the Interim Minister search, this search is not as time-bound so can continue until we find just the right candidate.
The following is from the Nominating Committee and is required in advance of the Congregational Meeting.
There are three ways a Voting Member can be nominated for the Board of Directors.
By the Nominating Committee, which submits a Candidate Slate equal to the number of terms being completed. This year’s slate includes the following four people: Cathy Leach-Phillips, Livia Walsh , Mary Anne Trause, Andi MacLeod
Nominations may be made in writing to the Nominating Committee. The deadline is June 14.
And Board member nominations may also be received from the floor at the Congregational Meeting.
The Nominating Committee is also pleased to announce these congregation officer nominees.

The Board of Directors and Officer nominees translate to an all-female governing body. Although we strive for board member diversity, it is increasingly difficult. More than 10 men declined the opportunity this spring. So let’s work together toward next year. If you or someone you know is interested, we’d love to talk about service beginning July 1, 2023.

As you may be aware, during the summer we coordinate an all children class during our regular services. The RE Committee invites you to present a fun activity for our children. Andrew Fry created an all-ages summer schedule sign-up page here that will take us through Labor Day. We will call on teachers and anyone in our UUFSD community to bring creative projects loosely related to a UU principal or purpose. We can of course help with supplies, so let your creative ideas start to percolate! If you have any questions, reach out to RE Chairperson, Susan Hahm at srwhahm@gmail.com.
As this is the last Open Letter from this Board, we hope that we have provided true transparency with all aspects of congregational life. It has been an honor to serve you.
