HOLIDAY GIVING FOR 3 GUATEMALAN FAMILIES

HOLIDAY GIVING FOR 3 GUATEMALAN FAMILIES

THIS YEAR, instead of having a Giving Tree as in previous years, the Social Justice Action group (SJA) is hoping to raise funds to provide our families with a happy holiday, especially the children who range from newborn twins to age 16. We have been providing emotional and material support for 3½ years as they go through the very arduous asylum process. The families continue to struggle financially from the effects of the pandemic, and low earning potential due to their immigration status, and inflation. These are very hardworking parents who will not be able to use whatever income they get to buy presents this year. Additionally, because of food instability, and the school-aged children being off for three weeks and not receiving breakfast and lunch on campus during that time, they are in need of food support.

We would like to collect funds to purchase gift cards at Walmart for toys and food. Please give generously either by donation at the SJA table on the patio from 12/5 to 12/19 or through the UUFSD online giving page using the Fundraiser called Families in Need.
