Requesting Grants from the Endowment
Each year, Fellowship members and committees are invited to submit applications for cash grants funded by our Endowment. Grants may be requested for any project, need, or use that is consistent with UU values, both within and outside of our Fellowship.
- social justice
- community outreach
- UU camps and schools
- local social service agencies
- programs for those in our community in spiritual or economic need
- campus renovation or maintenance
- other projects
Grants must be for activity not otherwise covered by the regular UUFSD budget or grants from other organizations.
Applications are due to the Planned Giving Committee by the due date announced for each year (in 2022, the due date is April 15) and, if grant applications are recommended to and approved by the congregation at our June meeting, funds will be disbursed to grantees shortly afterward. A brief form (link below) is requested to be used for submitting grant applications to the Planned Giving Committee at firstname.lastname@example.org, in order to explain the project’s name, purpose, cost, and how it is proposed to be carried out and evaluated.
The Planned Giving Committee’s responsibility is to review, authorize (or not) and then forward any requests for funding from the Endowment. If your application is not approved initially by the committee, we will work with you to modify the application to improve its chances of success.
Once a request for funds has been reviewed and authorized, it is forwarded to the UUFSD Board of Directors, which in turn can authorize or deny it. If authorized, the Board places it on the agenda for the June congregational meeting. The membership will vote on the request and either approve it or deny the request.
