Our Indigenous Neighbors: Change in Format to ZOOM

Calling all life-long learners who want to discover more about the Kumeyaay, Luiseno, and Cupeno Peoples with whom we share our beautiful home. We still plan a movie night on September 8th from 7-9 pm, but from the comfort of your home. Facilitated by Alison, our religious education guru, we will watch and discuss an Emmy-award-winning video together on Zoom. In it, individuals from local tribes describe some of their views, history and practices. We are initially planning a three-session series (9/8, 9/22 & 10/6) where we can read and learn together. Or you can just check out the first movie to gauge your interest. We also have some ideas for field trips or volunteerism, depending on the direction we take. We believe it’s our job to educate ourselves as informed citizens and compassionate allies before jumping in. Please RSVP by emailing Mary Anne Trause (trause@comcast.net).
