In 2022, members and friends at UUFSD wrote Holiday Greetings to prisoners throughout the country who found UUism while incarcerated, now members of the Church of the Larger fellowship (CLF). After taking a prerequisite correspondence course on Unitarian Universalism, our incarcerated members are eligible for a pen pal. The CLF Leadership Team is working hard to recruit more free-world UU writers to become pen pals to one of our incarcerated members. The waiting list to receive a pen pal is long.
Might you be interested in becoming a free-world penpal to someone who is experiencing incarceration? Our expectation is that you would write one letter each month — you would be the voice of stability and support, which is quite different from the environment of most prisons. This is a wonderful opportunity to live into your UU values.
