The difference between a project stuck on the TODO list and one on the way to the DONE list is whether anyone is DOING it!!! This is the page is where those committments are made and progress happens.
To move a Project here from the TODO list requires an action plan - committments by specific people to do specific things by specific dates.
These are active projects of the Buildings & Grounds Committee which is organized as a steering committee and four working groups, described in UUBG-035 Organization: UUFSD B&G Committee.
Each heading consists of a Project ID number (PID-PPP) followed by the Project Title. The PID-PPP is linked to the project's entry in the UUBG-065 Projects: Master Index. The Project Title is linked back to the table of contents above, like a normal UUBG document heading.
These are project action plans for the Steering Committee whose ongoing responsibilities are described in UUBG-036 Organization: Steering Committee. Listed in descending ProjectID order (newest project first).
These are project action plans for the Landscape Group whose ongoing responsibilities are described in UUBG-037 Organization: Landscape Group. Listed in descending ProjectID order (newest project first).
These are project action plans for the Hardscape Group whose ongoing responsibilities are described in UUBG-038 Organization: Hardscape Group. Listed in descending ProjectID order (newest project first).

There are two paths between UUFSD's lower parking lot and the Sante Fe Montessori school yard. The established path is long and gently sloped, the newer is a shortcut up an embankment to the parking lot. We propose to formalize the shortcut by building a set of steps up the bank and informalize the longer path as part of a hiking trail. |

Buy capstones for steps - Match capstones of adjacent retaining wall. Order about 40 of them along with a yard of gravel. Santa Fe Montessori will reimburse for materials, so get approval from Walter Huebscher, the Principal.

Bury exposed tree roots - Remove top layer of vegetation: get down to raw dirt and rocks. Dig out a 1 foot deep "keyway" trench along the bottom edge of the fill area. Add about 7 cubic yards of fill dirt from the pile Cris Colb (contractor building the Memorial Wall) delivers to the parking lot. Moisten with hose and tamp down in 4"~6" layers, terracing upward along guideline marked on existing retaining wall. Be generous with the dirt. We want the terrain to match the steps so that a handrail is not required.
WHO: Jeff Severinghaus, Bill Paxton, Steve Bartram, Ken Schultz. USE: 12 hrs; Wheelbarrow, hose, shovels, tamper or cinder block. |

Install steps - Start at the bottom, 3 capstones across for the first few rows then reduce to 2 capstones wide as you near the top. Tamp a 2"~3" gravel bed in place under each step. The bottom steps should be buried about 2" below existing soil. All other steps should sit 2" below and just behind the step in front of it.
The drawing shows how 18 steps of 8" capstones rise 6" per step to reach the top of the retaining wall next to the pine tree. WHO: ? Jeff Severinghaus, Bill Paxton, Steve Bartram, Ken Schultz. USE: RESOURCES |
