Social Justice Community Involvement

Unitarian Universalists have a long and proud history of community collaboration. UUFSD continues this tradition by active participation with local, regional and international organizations working for social justice and increased compassion in our communities.

Border Angels/Angeles de la Frontera

Border Angels advocates for human rights, humane immigration reform, and social justice with a special focus on issues related to issues related to the US-Mexican border. Border Angels engages in community education and awareness programs that include guided trips to the desert as well as to the border to learn about the history of US-Mexico border policy.

Encinitas Community Resource Center

Promotes a sense of community, healthy families and responsible, capable individuals. Works to break the cycle of family violence and decrease the number of hungry and homeless people in our community.

San Dieguito Boys & Girls Club Solana Beach (SDBGC ) at La Colonia de Eden Gardens

The SDBGC at the La Colonia Clubhouse serves children from kindergarten to sixth grade. Staff helps youth build their self-esteem and character by providing programs that enable them to make healthy choices. Youth participate in activities which are designed to help them gain self-confidence, increase knowledge and to develop mentally and physically.

Showing Up For Racial Justice – North County San Diego (SURJ NCSD)

SURJ-NCSD is part of a national network of groups and individuals working to undermine white supremacy and to work toward racial justice. Through community organizing, mobilizing, and education, SURJ moves white people to act as part of a multi- racial majority for justice with passion and accountability.

Lived Experiences

Lived Experiences, is a nonprofit organization that assist youth and adults in addressing their needs through a trauma informed lens. They have a mentoring program which, at its core, guarantees young people that there is someone who cares about them and makes them feel like they matter. They serve communities in need with an empathetic approach by delivering fresh produce to working families within their own neighborhoods. They operate a first of its kind Mobile Laundromat program in San Diego County. Their Youth Center is geared to serve as an outlet for youth and adults to engage in recreational, emotional, educational and artistic programming.

Gente Unida

Gente Unida is a human rights border organization called to highlight those working for social justice and to find collective means to feed, protect, clothe and comfort those in our community that have limited access to resources due to their nationality, or immigration status. Gente Unida builds awareness through education about ever-changing immigration issues, and speaking out and standing up for migrants as they seek refuge in the United States.

Unitarian Universalist Legislative Ministry California

The Unitarian Universalist Justice Ministry of California assists UU churches and fellowships to develop skills of civic engagement so that we may educate, organize, and advocate for public social justice policies.

Unitarian Universalist Service Committee

Promotes human rights and social justice worldwide through a potent combination of advocacy, education and partnerships with grassroots organizations.

UUA Ministry For Earth

To be a wellspring of spiritual and educational grounding and practical support for bold, accountable action for environmental justice, climate justice, and the flourishing of all life.

UU Young Adults For Climate Justice:

UU Young Adults for Climate Justice is a diverse network of UU activists aged 18 to 35 who support each other in engaging in direct action campaigns, leading worship services, educating ourselves and the wider UU world, mobilizing and organizing UUs for the work of climate justice, and more.

UU Elders Climate Action:

UUs and members of Elders Climate Action have been busy with the UU Project Drawdown Initiative 2021.. The UU DD initiative offers a clear path towards climate justice rooted in science-based, and solutions-oriented actions, mobilizing teams or individuals to do their part for collective action.

Unitarian Universalist Justice Ministry California

The UUJMCA has deep roots in California’s environmental justice movements. With a history of partnerships that have kept them engaged in the movement for water justice and the human right to water, they are working to deepen efforts to promote just environmental practices and policies.
