A Memorial in the Heart of the Fellowhip

Dedication

More than 60 members and friends of UUFSD gathered May 2 to dedicate the first mural in the Memorial complex. The program included Karen Bullette's brief history of the project; remarks by Reverend David on the meaning of the wall; expression of appreciation to artist Jerry Thiebolt by Greg Brown; reading of the 22 names now gracing the wall by Karen Eckhardt and Kathryn Sturch; and remarks by Chris Kolb on behalf of the families. We were especially honored to welcome Andy Kay, who with his wife Mary gave the land on which our Fellowship has taken root and grown over half a century.

Eligibility and Reservations

Please see the "Memorial Wall Policy Statement" document for details on the eligibility requirements for the names to be engraved on plaques. To reserve a plaque, please download the "Memorial Plaque Donation and Assignment Record" form. Please note that rising production costs require increasing the minimum donation per plaque from $200 to $300, effective July 1, 2010.

Memorials Committee

Until now, the project has been the responsibility of the Design Review Committee under the devoted leadership of its chair, Karen Bullette. Karen is retiring from that role, and she takes with her our unending gratitude for her wisdom and tenacity in the face of often daunting challenges.

Going forward, the memorial walls are the responsibility of the Memorials Committee. We shall continue to work with Jerry Thiebolt to bring on line the remaining four murals in his remarkable design. We'll also coordinate the reservations, location assignments, engraving, and installation of individual plaques. If you might be interested in assisting in these efforts, please contact me.
