Unitarian Universalist Association of Congregations

Visitors are Welcome

Welcome to the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of San Dieguito. We are a welcoming community, open to all persons regardless of age, race, gender, religion, or affectional orientation.

In addition to Sunday services, we offer our adults a broad range of programs. Our Social Action Committee provides a wide range of opportunities for members to serve the larger community. The congregation is involved in community service activities such as helping with the Interfaith Shelter Network, building houses for Habitat for Humanity, and taking up a weekly food collection as part of the Sunday service. We also enjoy an outstanding choir and a wide variety of special music. Our Connections Committee sponsors a number of activities/social gatherings throughout the year to help all members connect with each other, including Circle Dinner (a social dinner opportunity), concerts, picnics, Thanksgiving dinner, Holiday Party, Christmas dinner, etc.

Visitors to UUFSD are asked to fill out a visitor card and given a welcome packet at the visitor's table prior to Sunday services. During the services, guests are asked if they are willing to introduce themselves. Children are welcomed to attend the Religious Education classes. After services, guests are also invited to attend the coffee hour. Visitors are asked to use blue mugs so that others in the congregation can easily identify and welcome them. Our complementary newsletter, the "UU Fellowship Focus" will be mailed to a visitor for three months.

We hold "New Member Orientations" quarterly for those visitors who want a more in depth understanding of the Fellowship, Unitarian Universalism, and wish to learn more about the membership process. It is recommended that anyone considering membership attend one of the membership orientation series if possible. Information on dates and sign ups for "New member Orientations" can be obtained by contacting our office administrator, Patricia Weld at or . Alternatively you may make an appointment with the minister to discuss membership.

Membership in UUFSD is open to anyone who is in general agreement with a religious community dedicated to the principles of a free faith. We believe that the authority for your belief is your own conscience and intellect. We only ask that you be willing to undertake your religious quest and contribute personally and financially to further the activities of the church. Joining the church requires signing the Membership Book in the presence of our minister Rev. David Miller or someone on the Membership Committee. A commitment to the financial support of the Fellowship is made at that time.

We at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of San Dieguito look forward to new opportunities for service, for intellectual and spiritual growth, and for the richness that new people with diverse experiences, views and talents will bring to our community.

If you have any questions, please contact Rev. David Miller by phone at or by email at , or Betsy Gilpin, Chair Membership Committee, by email at . For information on new member orientations, please contact Patricia Weld at or .
