Serving With Grace – a class with Rev. Meghan

Three Saturdays from 9a-12p: October 20, November 3 and 10

Founder’s Hall

What if volunteering and lay leadership was not a means to an end but an end in itself? Could we experience the meeting room as a zendo and the deliberations of a task force as a form of group prayer? Imagine church not as a place led by a few overly taxed people but one where leadership is a broadly shared ministry that members of the congregation undertake for the deep joy of it.

Serving with Grace is offered to help us grow in our understanding of who we are as leaders, deepen connections with one another and begin to see the time and energy we offer to the fellowship as an integral part of our spiritual life.

The class is offered as three three-hour workshops that go together but also stand alone as one-off experiences. Please plan to come to all three if you are able. Facilitated by Rev. Meghan the class will be use the book Serving With Grace, by Erik Walker Wikstrom, Copies of the book are available in the UUFSD Office for purchase ($10.50). Committee chairs and members, volunteers, directors of the board, and anyone interested in lay leadership are especially encouraged to attend. RSVP to Tracey at office@uufsd.org.

Here’s what others have said about this class:

“My thoughts regarding my work at [the fellowship] have shifted from a sense of responsibility and individual burden to the freedom of joy and spirituality.”

“[The class] refreshed and renewed my hope in the possibility of building the beloved community right here.”
